Just bought this Linksys WUSB54GC USB wifi adapter. I was surprised that it was not plug in play considering it was created just recently and from a prominent company, Linksys.
Like with what you have probably thought right now, ‘why not download the driver from their website?’. Tried that one and the download link is not working, at first i thuoght i need to register my device before i can download but it turned out be the same.
The download link for Linksys Wireless-G USB Adapater at the their website is not working and i was not able to go online that time. Tried search for it for more than an hour, which somehow made me regret buying it. When i arrived home, i zipped the driver from the CD that came with my purchase and i’m uploading them here.

Update: I’m now using Windows 7 and it no longer requires the driver.
Another Update: the cisco website already fixed their download link and its working fine, so i removed my old download link and point it to the new cisco download location.

you extract the files and then go to device manager (my computer , properties ,hardware) right click the device that is not working , select update , select no not this time and go next. click install from specific location and click next , uncheck search removable media , check include this location in search. click browse and select the folder you extracted the files to and click next and it should install. this is what i did and it works.

I lost my disk and have been screwed ever since. Thank you so much for the driver. It took me a little while to get it but I got it and it works like a dream now. I put it on my flash drive for a future use of it again. I need to put it on another computer tomorrow.

Thanks Alfredo so much for putting the 54GC driver on the Internet for me to download. The Linksys-Cisco web site still has a damaged driver that does not work. Without your download I would have had to wait until tomorrow to get my disk which is up the road. Good luck to you and your studies!

I’m using windows 7 as well, its working fine. although i have never tried installing it on x64 but i think it will work. Try plugging it into your USB port directly and not using an extension wire or port if your getting the message “device not working properly”. it should detect correctly and should download corresponding driver automatically.
I have the linksys compact wireless G USB Adapter CD and I downloaded it and I have a Belkin Router. Everytime I try to get on line it tells me my wireless is unpluged and it is not. Is there a phone # where I can get help don’t know what to do to get this thing working

Still didnt work for me….when i try to extract the files. it STILL says its damamged, nc in a point of time, i restarted my entire computer, and i lost the disk… i dont know what to do..
For windows 7 64 bit, you need to run it in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista service pack 2. this worked for me after troubleshooting it with other options for about an hour
